Dr. Bartos will outline the formation of Christianity as a state religion and as a fundamental pillar of public authority in the late Roman Empire and early medieval Europe. and discuss the process of institutionalizing the Church as both an expression of faith and an instrument of power, as well as an eff ort to implement various ideas of rightful government in practice.
