CJS - Forensic Investigations

This seminar will explore key elements of forensic investigation, the current trends in forensic investigation, and possible future advances in forensic investigations. Seminar participants will learn about the key elements for a successful investigation, services and capabilities of firearm examiners, information firearm evidence as well as bloodstain evidence provide the investigator, and how to become a more effective witness.

The seminar will be moderated by Ms. Shannon Floyd. She is currently a Forensic Specialist with the Valdosta-Lowndes Regional Crime Laboratory. Ms. Floyd has been serving as a firearm and toolmark examiner and crime scene investigator for approximately 15 years and provides expert witness testimony in both Firearms Identification (Ballistics) and Crime Scene. She also serves as a technical assessor with the American Society of Crime Laboratory Directors/Laboratory Accreditation Board and has worked as a detective in the cold case homicide unit at the Valdosta Police Department.
