The printing press was one of the most important inventions in the Western world at the dawn of the early modern era. Dr. Bartos will outline the cultural impact of literacy and the technological means that enabled its expansion. The printing press’s crucial role in fostering a growing interest in human nature and in disseminating controversial and revolutionary ideas in religion and politics will be highlighted.
