Course Description

Travel to Albany to visit two attractions.

First visit the Flint Riverquarium, which highlights river, marine, and seashore ecosystems. The centerpiece of the Riverquarium is the Blue Hole Spring, an amazing 22-foot-deep display showcasing Southwest Georgia’s unique underwater world. In the Flint River Gallery you will view the creatures that inhabit the river from its headwaters near Atlanta to the Gulf of Mexico. You will also see The Hatchery; the World of Water; view the alligators in Spring Run Creek; and visit the aviary to see some of the birds that inhabit the Flint River Basin. Admission: $8 for seniors (62 and up); $9 others.

After having lunch (at a spot to be determined by the group), visit Radium Springs Gardens, once one of Georgia’s most famous resort areas. You will learn about the historic spring itself, which does in fact contain traces of radium, and tour the surrounding botanical garden. Admission: FREE.
