First stop and visit the Titan I missile, which is visible from I-75 in Cordele. Not wanting to simply honor the US Air Force with a plaque or statue, the city of Cordele and the local Rotary Club made it their mission to obtain an actual missile to put on display.
Next, visit the Lake Blackshear Dam, also known as the Warwick Dam. This facility on the Flint River was built in 1930 and was the first county-owned, -constructed and -operated power dam in the United States. The reservoir it created, Lake Blackshear, is a popular spot for boating, fishing, and other water sports. Take a guided tour and see first-hand how hydroelectric power is generated.
Lunch arrangements in Cordele to be determined by the group.
