Considerations in Counseling and Supervision when working with LGBTQIA2+ Individuals will assist counselors and supervisors in understanding the Standards of Care Counseling LGBTQ2IA+ Individuals issued by the American Counseling Association while taking into consideration today's social and political landscape.

Participants will be exposed to foundation concepts such as gender vs sex, sexuality vs romantic and affectional attraction, and basic concepts related to transgender individuals as well as critical thinking skills related to what it means to be an affirming therapist, business practices, and how our profession has and continues to harm LGTBQIA2+ individuals through its participation in gatekeeping behaviors and partnerships with carceral systems and the subsequent bias this creates in both counseling and supervisory relationships.
