This workshop will introduce an overview of trauma, how to assess it and how it affects the body. An introduction to trauma and psychological first aid will be provided in the beginning of the workshop. Then appropriate trauma assessments will be introduced. An overview of how trauma affects the body will be provided. Last, an introduction to Sensorimotor Psychotherapy and how it can best be used with clients who have experienced trauma. The workshop will then help participants learn how to prioritize appropriate challenges for the clients so they aren't taking too much risk to increase client's cooperation. Practical tools will be introduced that can be used within the counseling session to better understand trauma and work with a client experiencing trauma.
